Work continues at the Quednau house

With the exterior painting done and the majority of the interior electrical work completed, we can start closing walls and finishing the interior.  This was the view a couple of weeks ago when the painting was being done

Today, that looks quite a bit different

and work is progressing in the central room.

We also have word that the contractor will have our new roof started soon.  Stay tuned!

The Easter Egg Hunt sure was fun

It went off as planned at 11AM.  Our volunteers showed incredible cleverness in hiding the eggs for the 0 to 3 year old section.wDSC_5065

An eager crowd awaited as the time drew near.wDSC_5122

You  could listen to music or make your own!webDSC_5067

Once the rush was on everybody was having fun getting to the candy filled eggs.  We did find one entrant who had decided to specialize in pink eggs.wDSC_5140a

And once  the eggs had all disappeared into baskets it was time to sit in the shade and check out what you had gotten and compare with friends. wDSC_5148

It doesn’t really matter, while some of the eggs held tickets for special prizes, everybody was a winner..

Pickleballers Paint Project at Park

OK, I couldn’t resist the alliterative title but today is a great day in the History Park.  Early this chilly morning a volunteer group of Pickleball players from Gilchrist Park showed up to paint the outside of the Quednau-Hindman house.  It’s going to make a great difference to the exterior appearance and is a major step to completion.

As you can see from the top shot there is still a lot to do inside but our construction volunteers will soon be installing drywall and flooring and are hoping to have major parts of the interior completed for a special surprise at Christmas in the Park.

WOW! It’s Easter Already

DSC_5101webEaster comes early this year but the Easter Bunny and Punta Gorda Historical Society are ready for it.

This year the Easter Egg Hunt will be held as usual at the History Park at 501 Shreve Street in Punta Gorda at 11AM on Saturday March 26 the day before Easter!

There will be music (and a chance to help make it) and the opportunity for search for the (not too) carefully hidden eggs.  The park is divided by age group so that everybody has a chance.DSC_5094web

Photo ops will abound for you to create and share!  It’s a free family event so come one and all!
